Headspace Broome is focused on providing young people aged 12 - 25 with support and advice for a range of issues.  They provide free services including Counselling, Doctor's Clinics and Sexual Health Clinics.

 

About the Opportunity

Headspace has an opportunity for a SEWB Worker to join their team in Broome on a full time basis

Working as part of the headspace Broome inter-disciplinary team the focus of this role is to enhance access for First Nations young people aged 12-25 that have difficulty attending or engaging in services at headspace Broome. The SEWB worker will facilitate culturally appropriate activities to engage and develop relationships that will enable seamless transition into the services and supports offered by headspace Broome that the young person is comfortable and motivated to engage in.

This is a 50D position and will work specifically to link and support young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people into the service.  

Some key responsibilities are: 

  • Develop rapport and engage with young people via an assertive outreach model
  • Actively monitor young people in partnership with key workers, providing follow up if non attendance to scheduled appointments or disengagement from the service
  • Liaise with mental health, drug and alcohol and relevant health and youth service providers
  • Assist young people to access a range of services to ensure coordinated care
  • Develop initiatives and strategies to assist in engaging and linking young people in to headspace Broome.

You will work as a team at headspace Broome with a multi-disciplinary team, to provide youth focused mental health services for young people aged 12 to 25.  The ideal candidate will also possess;

  • A qualification and or experience in Youth Work, Community Services, Social Work, Aboriginal Health Work – Mental Health or other relevant health / youth qualification
  • National Police Clearance, and;
  • Working with Children Check.

  • District allowance of $2,920 p.a. (single) or $5,840 p.a. (double);
  • Accommodation allowance of $7,800;
  • Electricity allowance of $1,440; 
  • Salary packaging; and
  • 5 weeks annual leave (pro rata) to explore your beautiful surrounds.
